Frequently Asked Questions...things you've told us you want to know!

This blog looks at some of the questions that crop up often on social media. We do have a Frequently Asked Questions page on our website, with lots of useful information – so that’s always a good place to start if you are unsure of anything. However, listed below are some additional questions we get asked a lot, along with brief answers.

How does Diet Chef work?

Diet Chef is a home delivery diet plan – you select a 4, 8 or 12 week plan online, and receive monthly hampers with your chosen breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks, delivered straight to your door. You add vegetables, fruit, a bit of dairy and possibly some ‘extra foods’, depending on how many daily calories you are allowed.

The best way to find out more is to have a look at our website; specifically the FAQ’s page, our Terms and conditions and the Delivery page.

In addition, we have created a ‘How Diet Chef works’ infographic, which covers all the main points – check it out by clicking here.

How do I find out my daily calorie allowance?

The ‘Free Profile and BMI Calculation’ tool on our website homepage will give you the following information:
  • Current BMI
  • Estimated calorie burn
  • Estimated daily calorie allowance
  • Ideal weight range
Of course, as you progress on the diet, your daily calorie allowance may change. Subsequently, we recommend that you re-submit your profile for every 6-7 lbs you lose.

I just missed a special offer…can I still get a discount?

We do run promotions and special offers from time to time, so there are plenty of opportunities to get a great deal on Diet Chef. However, our promotions are usually strictly time-limited, so it's unlikely a discount will be available if you miss the deadline.

What about discounts for existing customers?

Discount deals on our meal plans are aimed at new and returning customers. We offer existing customers 'refer a friend' rewards and annual competitions, in order to add further value.

We do understand that it can be frustrating when you buy something and then shortly afterwards, it goes on sale. We do also appreciate that Diet Chef might not suitable for all budgets. However, we firmly believe that we offer customers a good quality product and great value for money.

According to the Office for National Statistics, the average UK consumer spends £73 a week on food, booze, snacks and takeaways...that's £26.75 more than a week of Diet Chef food, on our 12 week plan.

I have a health conditions – is Diet Chef suitable for me?

If you have any kind of health or medical condition that might be affected by dieting, check with a doctor or a health professional before starting a diet. All our food is listed on our website, including ingredients, allergens and nutritional value, but if you are at all unsure as to whether Diet Chef will be suitable, check with your GP before ordering.

We do not recommend Diet Chef for women who are breastfeeding.

We have created this fact sheet for health professionals, which you could direct your doctor to for more information about Diet Chef.

I’m not losing enough weight…what am I doing wrong?

You are not necessarily doing anything wrong. There’s any number of reasons why your weight loss might slow down or stop periodically. We recently wrote a more detailed blog about this – check it out:

Not losing weight? Here are some things to consider…

Can I try before I buy?

We can’t offer taster hampers, but we do have a 21 day money back guarantee. This means that you can try the meal plan and if you find it's not to your liking, you can cancel within three weeks of receiving your first hamper and get a full refund on the subscription cost that you have paid. The only expense you will have to cover is the £10-£20 cost of sending any remaining food back to us via courier.

Can I change the meals from one month to the next?

Yes you can. Simply log into your account on our website, and in the subscription section you will see the option to change meals. You can update your meals any time between hampers, up to 2 working days prior to your processing date (which is also available in your account).

Why do I sometimes get items in my hamper that I didn't order?

When you place your order, your hamper is automatically populated with our most popular items. You get the option to customise the hamper by adding and removing meals in each meal category, before you get to the check-out. Sometimes, if a meal you have chosen sells out before your order is processed, we will substitute it with more of another dish that you have also selected.

Please note: If your web session is interrupted or you don’t log into My account while ordering, your selections may not be registered properly and you could be sent the ‘standard hamper’. Always check your basket and meal selections, making sure you are logged in to your Diet Chef online account, before you check out.

The Customer Services Team can help you exchange any meals you don’t want.
