Team Diet Chef does shedtember!

It's time – shedtember has arrived…are you ready to lose some pounds off your waist AND raise some pound for charity?!

As you may be aware, if you read our first blog about shedtember, Diet Chef has partnered with this annual fundraising event - and some of our health-conscious and charitably-minded staff have decided to join in the effort. We’ll be following the progress of a couple of our colleagues throughout September, on the Diet Chef blog.

Let us introduce you to Catriona in our Product Development Team, and Stacey in the Operations Team – who we will be checking in on weekly, for a ‘shedtember update’.

Catriona Liddle 

Job title: Head of Product Development

What do you do at Diet Chef?
Product Development is responsible for creating and launching all the food for Diet Chef, carefully selecting suppliers and using the best ingredients on offer.

Why are you taking part in shedtember?
As a real foodie, I've found it hard to resist food all my life, and I have reached the stage where I feel I need to lose quite a bit of weight.  I think I must have taken the expression "never trust a thin chef" a bit too literally!

What is your goal for the month?
I’m aiming to lose 7 lbs this month. I want to give myself a boost with my weight loss plan, and raising money for charity is a great incentive.

How do you plan to achieve it?
I am going to follow the Diet Chef plan for the month. I have also recently joined a gym, but I don't plan on becoming a gym bunny! I will be happy with a couple of visits to the gym per week, with some added walks thrown in. That way, I think I'm more likely to stick to it.

How will you celebrate if you smash it? 
By doing another month! Seriously, the reward of losing a bit of weight will probably be enough for me.

Favourite Diet Chef food?
I do like the various granola breakfasts – they are delicious. For dinner, I think the Tuna Rigatoni is my particular favourite.

Who is your food hero (other than our Development Chef, Alan Mathieson)?
I used to be a vegetarian many years ago and have always loved Mollie Katzen's books. She used to run a restaurant in California called the Moosewood Collective, which did amazing food. She is really creative as most veggie chefs have to be. I think Jamie Oliver gets a lot of stick for his actions, but he is really trying to improve the UK's foodie knowledge one chunk at a time, and he is a bit unstoppable!

Stacey Cheung

Job title: Quality Assurance Manager

What do you do at Diet Chef?
I work with our suppliers, our Development Chef (Alan Mathieson), and the warehouse staff to deliver high quality Diet Chef products, 100% of the time.

Why are you taking part in shedtember?
This is great timing for me, as I need a post-holiday kick start to my health and fitness regime, in order to get back into shape!

What is your goal for the month? 
To lose half a stone and tone up.

How do you plan to achieve it?
Through sensible diet, with Diet Chefs help, and plenty exercise.

How will you celebrate if you smash it?
By treating myself to some new, smaller clothes, for the new season!

Favourite Diet Chef food?
Thai Red Chicken Curry, Vanilla Flavour Milkshake and the Peanut Protein Bar.

Who is your food hero (other than our Development Chef, Alan Mathieson)?
Well she’s more of a health hero, but I would have to say Jillian Michaels. I love her fitness plans as she is a great motivator!

So what is shedtember? 

September 2014 sees the launch of shedtember – a fundraiser that we at Diet Chef have partnered with, which will take place every September to encourage people to lose weight, while raising money for charity, including Diabetes UK.

shedtember has been created to highlight the health issues related to weight gain, the benefits of weight management, as well as to raise awareness of access to psychological and psychiatry services for people with diabetes and their close ones.
